Hemmerling to Present at the Orthopedic Research Society Annual Meeting, February 2-5

Kimberly Hemmerling is presenting a talk entitled “Corrosion In Retrieved Metal Liners Of Modular Dual Mobility Systems For THA” at the ORS annual meeting in Austin, Texas on Saturday, February 2nd.

Hemmerling wins ELI Undergraduate Research Award

Kimberly Hemmerling was awarded an Engineering Learning Initiatives Undergraduate Research Award for her proposal, “Microstructural characterization of human of cervical tissue throughout pregnancy.” The ELI grant provides support for her senior thesis. Congratulations Kim!

Mileti to Present at SciX Conference, October 21-26

Cassidy Mileti will present her poster entitled, “Raman and FTIR spectroscopic measures of crystallinity differentially assess crystal size and stoichiometric perfection in hydroxyapatite” at the Society for Applied Spectroscopy Student Poster Session.

Donnelly to Present at ASBMR annual meeting, September 28-October 1

Eve Donnelly will present an oral presentation of Pablo Palomino’s research entitled “Advanced glycation endproduct content is increased in cortical bone of the femoral neck in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus.”

Mileti receives SAS Undergraduate Student Award

Cassidy Mileti was recognized by the Society for Applied Spectroscopy for her study of carbonate-substituted apatites and native bone tissue by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy, as well as x-ray diffraction, developing FT-IR acid phosphate intensity ratio to further our basic understanding of the interactions between anionic substitutions in synthetic apatites and native bone tissue.
